MEDIA ADVISORY: Secretary Detzner to Host Press Event at Museum of Florida History

Secretary of State Ken Detzner and the Museum of Florida History are pleased to announce a press preview of the new permanent exhibit Forever Changed: La Florida 1513–1821.

 

DATE:          Friday, October 16, 2015

TIME:          10 a.m. to noon

LOCATION:  Museum of Florida History, R. A. Gray Building

DESCRIPTION:         The Museum of Florida History has completed a new permanent exhibit, Forever Changed: La Florida, 1513–1821. The first portion of the exhibit opened in 2012, and covered the period 1513–1565. This final installation covers the period 1565–1821, beginning with the establishment of a Spanish colony at St. Augustine and ending with Florida’s adoption as a United States territory.

 

AGENDA:     Welcome and ribbon cutting – 10 a.m.

                    Viewing of the exhibit – 10:15 a.m.

                    Tour of exhibit led by exhibit curators – 10:30 a.m.

                    Promotional materials will be available.

ABOUT THE MUSEUM OF FLORIDA HISTORY:

The Museum of Florida History is part of the Florida Department of State's Division of Cultural Affairs and is located in the R. A. Gray Building at 500 South Bronough Street, Tallahassee, Florida. Hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Sunday and holidays, noon to 4:30 p.m.  Free parking is available in the garage next to the R. A. Gray Building.
