North Palm Beach Country Club Featured as Florida Historic Golf Trail Course of the Month

Tallahassee –

Secretary of State Ken Detzner announced today that the North Palm Beach Country Club has been chosen as the featured course on the Florida Historic Golf Trail for the month of October. The North Palm Beach Country Club is located in the Village of North Palm Beach in Palm Beach County.

“We are pleased to feature the historic North Palm Beach Country Club as a partner on the Florida Historic Golf Trail,” said Secretary Detzner. “For nearly 90 years, this redesigned historic golf course continues to attract golfers to the Village of North Palm Beach.”

In the 1920s, Palm Beach developer Paris Singer, and builder Harry Kelsey, purchased land several miles north of the existing Everglades Club, and adjacent to Kelsey City (Lake Park), to build a golf course. In 1926, Singer presided over the opening of the new 18-hole golf course. Designed by Seth Raynor, the golf course became known as the Palm Beach Winter Club. In 1962, the club and golf course were purchased by the Village of North Palm Beach.

In November 2006, the North Palm Beach Country Club opened its newly renovated golf course, becoming only the second public municipal golf course in the United States at that time to bear the prestigious designation as a Jack Nicklaus “Signature” Golf Course. The North Palm Beach Country Club includes an 18-hole, par-71 golf course featuring six sets of tees, including a family tee, playing from 3,600 to over 7,000 yards, so each golfer may challenge the course in a manner that is equal to their individual game.

“It is truly an honor to be selected as the Florida Historic Golf Trail’s featured course for October,” says Casey Mitchell, Director of Golf for North Palm Beach Country Club. “Situated on Florida’s Intracoastal Waterway, our links style course boasts stunning views, undulating greens, and 7,100 yards from the tips.”
