Bernheim Artist in Residence Program
|Deadline||January 14, 2018|
|Sponsor||Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest|
|Location||Clermont , KY|
The Artist in Residence Program at Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest is awarded on an annual basis to artists who are selected to create works within the forest and/or arboretum that are inspired by and potentially installed in the natural world. This program enhances the visitor experience through interaction with art and artists, while fulfilling Bernheim’s mission of connecting people to nature. Bernheim is most interested in work that furthers expands the artist’s practice and the interplay between visual art and the natural world. The Artist in Residence Program is available to all visual and mixed media artists in any medium including sound, installation and architecture. Applicants may be emerging or established artists on a regional, national or international level. Up to four artists a year will live in residence at Bernheim for 6 weeks to 3 months where they create, explore and challenge our notions of nature-related art, experimenting through discovery and research. Bernheim provides living quarters, an honorarium and studio space in exchange for a site-specific sculpture, project or exhibition, with at least one mutually agreed upon work of art left to the Bernheim Foundation. Also required is some form of public engagement such as a lecture, workshop or demonstration.
