Slow Burn Theatre is a non-profit professional theatre company that performs a year-round season at Broward Center for the Performing Arts in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The company currently seeks a full-time Managing Director to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Theatre. Founded in 2010 by Patrick Fitzwater and Matthew Korinko and performing at West Boca High School for its first five seasons, the company achieved early artistic and financial success and was invited in 2015 to be the in-house musical theatre production company at Broward Center – the region’s premiere theatre facility.
The company’s mission is to provide South Florida’s diverse population with opportunities to experience high quality, daring, contemporary and intelligent works of musical theatre through attendance, employment and/or education and community outreach programs.
The company’s first Managing Director will oversee all administrative, marketing, production, and financial functions of the Theatre. Reporting to the Board of Directors through the Board President, the Managing Director must have excellent verbal and writing skills, the ability to work independently, and experience with fundraising, marketing, budget creation, financial management, strategic planning, and contract management.
The ideal candidate will be an energetic individual with an enthusiastic attraction to the South Florida’s theatre community. More important, the candidate must demonstrate a strong interest in marketing Slow Burn Theatre to South Florida in ways that will increase its recognition as an integral part of the region. This person will bring a combination of communications expertise and business management with an excitement for the performing arts and for the benefits the arts bring to the community.
