The Museum of Florida History Hosts the 33rd Annual Children's Day

Tallahassee –

The Museum of Florida History in downtown Tallahassee is hosting the 33rd Annual Children's Day on Saturday, January 30, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This year's theme is "Racing through History" to coincide with the Museum's exciting new Florida auto racing exhibit. The free, popular event offers an array of performers, exhibitors, and history for the whole family.

"This is a great event that allows the Department of State to host a multitude of community organizations that cater to children," said Secretary of State Ken Detzner. "We love hosting this event and seeing the thousands of smiling faces that come out to enjoy it. With the many opportunities for exploration and discovery, I sometimes think the adults enjoy it as much as the children!"

From history to science and face painting to performing, there is something for everyone at Children's Day.

Visitors can learn about Florida history from the State's Archaeological Research Lab and Mission San Luis or explore science with the National MagLab. The Pilot Club will once again be giving away complimentary bicycle helmets. Live performances are presented by the Tallahassee Ballet, the Young Actors Theatre, the Trousdale dance teams, and others. Also, the popular Dr. Sound's Music Clinic and the BJ's Party House face painting are back again this year.

Parking and admission are free. Some activities require tickets that can be purchased at the event. Lunch is available for purchase from The Egg Express Café in the Museum lobby. Follow the Museum's website at museumoffloridahistory.com and social media pages or call 850.245.6400 for more information.
