1985 Florida Folk Heritage Award
Lillian Saunders contributed over forty years of public service to the State of Florida and was instrumental in the establishment of public programs devoted to folk arts. Working with the Florida Federation of Music Clubs, Saunders spearheaded the movement to create a Stephen Foster Memorial Park in White Springs. As a member of the Stephen Foster Memorial Commission, she helped establish the annual Florida Folk Festival at the Park and create the initial Florida Folk Arts Program. Saunders was a member of the Florida Folklife Council from 1979 until 1982.
