Set Up Taxes

Most companies in Florida pay business taxes to their state, federal and local governments. While we can’t cover all tax situations, we can go over some common steps.

Federal business tax

The IRS is in charge of federal business taxes. They collect corporate income tax, self-employment tax and other business taxes.

State business tax

The Department of Revenue is in charge of state business taxes in Florida. They collect sales and use tax, reemployment tax, and other business taxes.

County business tax

Most county tax collectors require businesses to pay local business tax (occupational license). This gives businesses the right to operate inside the county.

City business tax

Some city governments also require their own local business tax. This gives businesses the right to operate inside city limits.
