MEDIA ADVISORY: Flamenco Performance at Mission San Luis

The Florida Department of State’s Folklife Program announces a free concert featuring traditional flamenco artists Paco and Celia Fonta and modern flamenco group, Maharajah Flamenco Trio at Mission San Luis on Thursday, September 15 beginning at 7 p.m. The performance will be the culmination of a three-day Artist Residency conducted by Mr. and Mrs. Fonta in Tallahassee. This event is presented by the Florida Folklife Program and Mission San Luis in partnership with the FSU Center for Music of the Americas.

 

DATE AND TIME:           Thursday, September 15, 2016

                                       7 p.m.-8:15 p.m.

LOCATION:                    Mission San Luis

                                       2100 West Tennessee Street, Tallahassee

PARTICIPANTS:            Traditional flamenco artists Paco and Celia Fonta will be joined by Silviu Ciulei, David Cobb, and Ramin Yazdanpanah of the Maharajah Flamenco Trio. An introduction will be provided by Director of the Center for Music of the Americas and Coordinator of Musicology at FSU Denise Von Glahn and State Folklorist Amanda Hardeman.

Florida’s Apalachee-Spanish Living History Museum was the western capital of Spanish Florida from 1656 to 1704.
