MEDIA ADVISORY: Secretary Detzner Invites Press to Exhibit Opening at the Museum of Florida History

Secretary of State Ken Detzner and the Museum of Florida History invite the press to the opening reception of the special exhibit Guy LaBree: Painted Stories of the Seminoles.

5:30–7:30 p.m.

LOCATION:                          Museum of Florida History, R. A. Gray Building

DESCRIPTION:                                 The Museum of Florida History presents the temporary exhibit Guy LaBree: Painted Stories of the Seminoles. The exhibit features paintings by Guy LaBree, often considered the preeminent artist of the Seminoles. Much of the artwork on display depicts Seminole lifestyles, legends, and history. The reception begins with remarks by Secretary of State Ken Detzner, Museum Director Dr. Jeana Brunson, and Mrs. Pat LaBree. During the reception, the Rita Youngman Band will perform. Promotional materials will be available.

ABOUT THE MUSEUM OF FLORIDA HISTORY:

The Museum of Florida History is part of the Florida Department of State's Office of External Affairs and is located in the R. A. Gray Building at 500 South Bronough Street, Tallahassee, Florida. Hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Sunday and holidays, noon to 4:30 p.m.  Free parking is available in the garage next to the R. A. Gray Building.
