Artists in Residence in Everglades
|Deadline||June 1, 2021|
|Sponsor||Artists in Residence in Everglades (AIRIE)|
|Location||Everglades National Park , FL|
Preservation of our natural environment and the fight against climate change will only be successful if there is racial equity in the movement. Historically, Black, Indigenous, People of Color and other marginalized voices have been devalued and suppressed in environmental conversations. AIRIE believes artists have the communicative ability to lead society to a more inclusive and just future. Over the course of the 2022 season AIRIE is investigating the question, how we can make the outdoors a space of belonging? We ask you, the artist, to engage with this theme and the natural world through your artistic practice as we build new paths forward.
Artists from any discipline should apply if their practice would benefit from:
Up to a month-long artist residency in the Everglades National Park (in fully furnished and air-conditioned accommodations)
Financial support through a $4000 fellowship grant
Connection to scientists, researcher, and practitioners working in the Everglades
Opportunities to connect with other AIRIE 2022 Fellows
Public engagement opportunities through AIRIE and Everglades National Park programming, including the annual AIRIE Environment + Art Summit
