Description
he Kansas Creative Arts Industries Commission (KCAIC) is essential to supporting artistic production, flourishing community, and the economy in the state of Kansas by enhancing arts, culture, and creative placemaking opportunities at the community level through programs and initiatives. As a division of the Kansas Department of Commerce, the Commission is focused on leveraging the creative arts to benefit the Kansas economy.
KCAIC engaged communities throughout Kansas in the creation of a strategic plan focused on developing creative and cultural resources as an essential catalyst for innovation and community revitalization. To best develop and deploy resources for public good and social impact, KCAIC created a plan that will:
- Re-imagine the place culture holds in Kansas communities;
- Expand the role the arts play in achieving local priorities;
- Build and support statewide infrastructure for the creative arts sector (of which KCAIC is one facet);
- Outline broad, high-impact strategies that Kansans see as necessary for individuals and communities to thrive; and
- Point to the contributions that art, culture, design, and heritage make towards equitable economic prosperity and community development.
The State of Kansas seeks a visionary and pragmatic leader for the position of Director for the Kansas Creative Arts Industries Commission. The Director provides direction, leadership, and strategy for KCAIC programs and initiatives, manages the budget and National Endowment for the Arts grants, and supervises a small staff and field representative team.
