The Museum of Florida History Hosts 36th Annual Children’s Day this Saturday

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –

The Museum of Florida History is hosting the 36th Annual Children's Day this Saturday, January 26, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This year's theme is History in Action and the event includes an array of performers, exhibitors and history for the whole family. The event is free and open to the public.

"Children's Day at the Museum of Florida History is a great opportunity for families to enjoy a variety of fun, educational activities and performances," said Secretary of State Michael Ertel. "From science to theater to arts and crafts, Children's Day has something for everyone and I encourage families to join us for this fantastic, free and highly-popular event."

Dozens of exhibitors will offer hands-on learning activities and guests can learn about Florida history from the Department of State's archaeological conservation lab and Mission San Luis. Guests can also explore science with the Center for Developmental Science.

Live performances are presented by the Tallahassee Ballet, the Young Actors Theatre and others. Popular exhibitors Big Bend Model Railroad Association and BJ's Party House face painting are back again this year. Also, the Pilot Club will be giving away complimentary bicycle helmets. Other activities include mastodon puppets, personalized button-making, basket decorating, history jeopardy and more.

Parking, admission and most activities are free. Face painting and balloon art require tickets that can be purchased at the event. Lunch is available for purchase from The Egg Express Café in the Museum lobby.

About the Museum of Florida History The Museum of Florida History is part of the Florida Department of State and is located in the R. A. Gray Building at 500 South Bronough Street, Tallahassee, Florida. Hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Sunday and holidays, noon to 4:30 p.m.  Free parking is available in the garage next to the R. A. Gray Building.
