Selection process

We select participants based on: 

  • Completeness of your application packet. 
  • Motivation to be a leader. 
  • Proven experiences as an informal and/or formal leader in your library and community. 
  • Willingness to take risks. 
  • Commitment to the Florida library community. 
  • Leadership readiness.  
  • Based on resume, application narrative and letter of recommendation.
  • Balance of type of library, geography, diversity or size of library per cohort.

For FY2021-22, the percentage of total costs for the Leadership Development and Recruitment Program financed with federal money is 66%; the federal dollar amount to be spent on the program is $121,536. This program does not include any state or local government funding or non-governmental funding.
