Book Club Kit Enhancements

Book Club Kit Enhancements is aligned with Martin County Library System's (MCLS) 2021 Long Range Services Plan, which includes engaging and serving the county’s growing aging population.

One project component involves developing enhancements for book club kits and increasing promotion of these kits to external groups like elder care organizations. We will create readers’ advisory tools (such as discussion questions, recipes, props and additional titles) for each kit and make these accessible online through links posted on the MCLS website; these items will also be included in a binder with each kit.

An additional project component, appropriate to the kit topic, will promote craft activities using MCLS’s idea lab/makerspace equipment. A flyer will describe how to use a Cricut ® machine to make invitations or bookmarks, for example, and the button maker to make buttons. This flyer will be included in the kit binder.

The book club kit tracking system will be moved to a cloud-based platform called MyTurn that MCLS currently uses for its Story Express Kits. This software will allow patrons to find out whether a title is available as a book club kit and reserve that kit for the date needed.
