Book pitch:
Elementary students will learn an overview of agriculture, plants as food and useful purposes, and how humans affect plants. The book contains a brief debate on GMOs, plant statistics, true/false questions, a plant activity, and highlights some careers for plant lovers.

Favorite quote:
"More than 2 billion acres of land around the world is used for growing crops. In comparison, the entire United States covers about 2.3 billion acres!"

I would recommend this book to readers who:
Kids who love plants and gardening will enjoy this book along with elementary students in need of research materials for plant or environment reports.

Describe the use of illustrations:
The photos contained in this book are clear and colorful with a description box located next to each image.

My favorite part was:
I liked the GMO debate as it exposes kids to the need of approaching topics from multiple viewpoints.

Describe any program ideas for this book:
The book contains an activity for keeping a bonsai tree. This activity could be turned into a program featuring different styles of bonsai trees, participants potting a bonsai tree, and a demonstration on how to properly trim a bonsai tree.

If I could change one thing, it would be:
I would have added a links page to the back of the book that correlates to the Plant Careers section of the book.
