  • A collection of over 300 black-and-white images of Black families in Leon and Jefferson counties, taken by Gilbert Richard Ohmes, a white amateur photographer, in the 1960s.
  • Documents the Black experience in rural Northwest Florida, inspired by Ohmes’ interest in the impact of integration on the local Black community, such as the Norton and Hughes families.
  • Includes some photographs, which are adhered to album pages as part of a draft article intended for publication; handwritten notes by Ohmes; and a few drawings and sketches.
