Washington WiFi

Photo of WiFi equipment.

Renae Rountree, Director of Washington County Public Library, created a pilot project in 2015 designed to allow library patrons to check out Internet service.

Rountree’s inspiration for the project came after talking with many patrons about local Internet issues, such as:

  • Lack of providers
  • Slow service
  • Too expensive

Panhandle Library Access Network (PLAN) sponsored Washington WiFi through an innovation grant.

For more details, you can view Rountree’s project presentation (PDF).
